F. H. Clark Died In Hospital

The Grundy Center community was shocked last week to learn of the death of F. H. (Bert) Clark, which occurred early Thursday morning, March 13, in St. Francis hospital, Waterloo. Mr. Clark died of a heart ailment following a short illness, having been removed to the hospital only a few days preceding his death.

Funeral services were held Saturday, March 15, at 9:30 a.m. in Sacred Heart church, with the Rev. Fr. Justin Kress in charge. Burial was in the Grundy Center cemetery.

The deceased was born in Masonville, Iowa, on May 14, 1877. After completion of his public school education, he entered a business college where he took a course in business management. Prior to coming to the Washington township farm, banking was Mr. Clark's career. For several years he was cashier of the bank at Bernard and in 1915 he organized and was cashier of the Farmers Savings bank of Traer, one of Tama county's leading banks.

On June 9, 1917, he was united in marriage with Ida M. Gaffey of Traer, formerly of Grundy Center. In 1937 the couple moved to the farm northeast of Grundy Center which has since been their home.

Highly respected by all who knew him, a kind friend and good neighbor, Mr. Clark will be greatly missed in the community in which he spent his later years.

He is survived by his widow and an aged sister, Mrs. Adah A. Delano of Frannie, Wyo. His parents and an infant son preceded him in death.
