Rites Held For Vivian Augustine
Vivian Augustine, passed away Tuesday, September 16, at her residence in Grundy Center of natural causes, having attained the age of 76 years, 8 months and 21 days.
Funeral services were held on Friday, September 19, at 10:30 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Grundy Center. Father Douglas Loecke officiated. Burial followed in the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established.
Pallbearers were Lori Tutt, David Augustine, Andrew Augustine, Sarah Augustine, Jason Augustine, Chuck Augustine and Michael Augustine.
Honorary pallbearers were Tyler, Matthew, Gregory and Zachary Augustine.
Vivian was born on December 25, 1920, in VanCleave, Iowa, the daughter of Laru M. and Esther A. (Bollenbecher) Nason. On January 27, 1941, she was united in marriage with Victor R. Augustine in Marshalltown.
Vivian worked as the Deputy clerk of court in Grundy County from 1967 until 1976 when she became the clerk of court for Grundy County. She held this post until retiring in 1988. Vivian was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Grundy Center, the Catholic Order of Foresters and the St. Monica's Study Club.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Victor in 1993 and her parents.
Survivors include 4 sons, Vic and his wife Carol of Marshalltown, Dennis and his wife Pat of LaPOrte City, David and his wife Judy of Flower Mound, Texas and John and his wife Dotti of Lanexa, Kansas; 9 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren; a brother, Roger and Betty Nason of Marshalltown; and a sister, Elaine and Leland Henze of State Center.
The Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home, Grundy Center, was in charge of the arrangements.
