Whitten Burial For C. T. Hopkins

Funeral services were held Sunday at the United Methodist Church in Whitten for Charles Hopkins, 86, of Whitten, who died Friday morning at the Eldora Community Hospital.

Rev. Robert Dally and Rev. Ray Howland officiated with interment in the Benson Cemetery. Biersborn Funeral Home of Union was in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers were Walter Arnold, Dwight Long, Howard Long, Herbert Hauser, Ezra Hiestand and Richard Fulton with flower ladies Amanda Schneider, Minnie Arnold and Clarice Clough. Mrs. Dennis Fulton served as soloist, accompanied by Mrs. Howard Cakerice at the organ.

Charles Thomas Hopkins was born December 19, 1882, in Sanders, Ky., a son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Hopkins. He was married August 20, 1913, to Chloe Conklin in Radcliffe. Mrs. Hopkins preceded him in death in 1942.

He married again in 1954 to Bertha M. Costello in Cedar Rapids. He was railroad depot agent at Whitten from 1908 until 1952, when he retired. He attended a telegraphy school in Valparaiso, Ind.

Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Mrs. Harold (Shirley) Cantore of Maywood, Ill.; a son, Gene C. Hopkins of San Rafael, Calif.; and four grandchildren. Two brothers preceded him in death.
