Rieke Seehusen Rites Held Monday

Funeral services for Rieke Seehusen, 81, of Holland, were held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Holland Christian Reformed Church with Rev. John S. Meyer officiating. Burial was in the Pleasant Valley Reformed Church cemetery.

Mr. Seehusen died about 5 p.m. Thursday at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital, where he had been a patient one day.

Rieke Seehusen was born November 5, 1888, in Germany, the son of Mr. and Mrs. George Seehusen. He came to the United States in 1902.

He was married to Etta Miller on March 12, 1912. The couple farmed in Pleasant Valley and Beaver townships, and also lived for two years in Dike. They retired and moved to Holland in 1954.

Mr. Seehusen was a member of the Holland Christian Reformed Church, and had been a member of the Pleasant Valley Reformed Church, where he served as an elder and Sunday School teacher.

He is survived by his widow; three sons and three daughters; George of Stewartville, Minn., Koert of Holland, Jake of Chatfield, Minn., Mrs. Leroy (Grace) Ennenga of Holland, Mrs. Marlyn (Reka) Flater of Holland, and Etta at home.

Also surviving are 20 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, Harm of Stewartville, Minn., and George of Allison.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, three sons, two brothers and three sisters.

The Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
