Henry VanHauen was born in Beaver Township, Grundy County, Iowa, on Dec. 30, 1876, the son of Henry and Tillie VanHauen. He passed away at Maple Manor Nursing Home, Aplington, Iowa, on July 21, 1969, at the age of 92 years, 6 months and 21 days.
On March 26, 1900, he was united in marriage to Katherine Anna Geerdes. They farmed and retired on their farm in Beaver Township. In 1966 he moved to Parkersburg where he lived until he entered Maple Manor in July of 1967.
He was a member of the Pleasant Valley Reformed Church and served for many years on the Consistory.
He is survived by one son, Sievert of Parkersburg, one daughter, Mrs. Fred Luppen of Parkersburg; three sisters, Mrs. Hattie Kramer of Parkersburg, Mrs. Etta Tammen of Parkersburg, and Mrs. Fannie Tjepkes of Parkersburg; 8 grandchildren and 10 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one daughter, Tillie; three brothers, Harm, Menno and Elso; and three grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Thursday July 24th, at the Pleasant Valley Reformed Church with Rev. Gerald Osland officiating. Interment was made in Pleasant Valley Reformed Church cemetery.
