Mrs. Jessie Martz Dies At Her Home

Mrs. Jessie Martz died at her home in Grundy Center last Thursday night. She had been a patient in the hospital and returned to her home on February 10th. Dena Aswegan helped to take care of her at her home. Death was due to a heart condition. She was 80 years old on February 19th. She was born in Grundy Center February 19, 1879, and resided here all of her life. Her maiden name was Jessie Dunsmore.

On October 18, 1899, Jessie Dunsmore and E. W. Martz were married in Grundy Center. He died several years ago. Since the death of her husband she lived alone until during the period of her late illness. She was a member of the Grundy WRC for 50 years and was a charter member of the Rebekahs in Grundy Center and she was a noble grand of that organization.

Funeral services were Monday afternoon at the Engelkes Funeral Home in Grundy Center. Rev. Heiniger, pastor of the Baptist church officiated at the service. Burial was in the Grundy Center cemetery.

Surviving are one son, Forrest, from Cedar Rapids and one grandson. Other surviving relatives are a half-brother, Harry Dunsmore of California, and two half-sisters, Mrs. Olive Howell, North Hollywood, California, and Mrs. Maude Thoren, Miranda, S. Dak. There are several nephews and nieces.
