John Dreessen, 92, of Reinbeck, died July 15 at the Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo. Funeral services were July 19 at the Union Congregational United Church of Christ. Burial was in the Reinbeck Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to the United Church of Christ Library.

John Dreessen, the son of Hans and Marie (Wiese) Dreessen, was born April 16, 1912. At a young age, John's family moved back to the Reinbeck area where he attended country school. After attending country school, John farmed with his brother, Wally.

On August 25, 1940, John was united in marriage to Helen Chapman. John farmed until retiring in 1972. He then worked part-time as a carpenter.

He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; his brother; his sister; a nephew; and a niece.

Survivors include his son; two grandchildren; and nephews and niece.
