Services Held Monday For Alberta Meyers

Mrs. Alberta Meyers of Leisure World in Mesa, AZ, and formerly of Grundy Center, passed away at 7:10 a.m. Thursday, December 29 at the Mesa Lutheran Hospital in Mesa, AZ.

Memorial services were held at the First Presbyterian Church, Grundy Center, on January 2 at 10:30 a.m. Pastor Thomas P. Harp officiated.

Mrs. Glenn R. Dieken played the organ interlude "If With All Your Hearts" (Ilijah), and a violin-organ duet of "The Lord's Prayer" by Malotte which was rendered by Mrs. Thomas Harp and Mrs. Glenn R. Dieken. The congregation sang "Joyful, Joyful We Adore Thee." The accompanist was Mrs. Dieken, who also played selected numbers for the prelude and postlude.

Ushers were Floyd Rouse and George Hauser. Mrs. Ernest Blythe and Mrs. Marvin DeVries were in charge of the floral arrangements.

Relatives and friends were invited to remain at the church following the services for a period of Christian fellowship and refreshments.

Interment of the cremains was in Rose Hill Cemetery, Grundy Center.

Mrs. Meyers was born August 28, 1899 in Grundy Center, the daughter of Albert and Luella Dyer Vasey. She grew up in Grundy Center and graduated from the Grundy Center high school in 1917. She attended Lake Forest College in Illinois for two years and graduated from the University of Iowa in 1921 with a physical education degree.

On June 14, 1921 she was united in marriage to Forrest Robson Meyers at Waterloo.

After their marriage they lived in Grundy Center until 1973 when they moved to Leisure World in Mesa, AZ.

Her husband, Forrest, passed away in 1975.

She continued to live in Arizona until the time of her death.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Grundy Center; Gama Phi Beta Sorority (past province director); DAR; Order of Eastern Star (past Worthy Matron); Legion Auxiliary; past member of the Grundy Center Library Board and the Woman's Club.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one infant daughter and a half-brother.

She is survived by two sons, F. Kent Meyers, Grundy Center, and William J. Meyers, Chandler, AZ; one daughter, Mrs. Charles (Marcia) LaMorte of Buffalo, NY; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

A memorial fund has been established. The Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home of Grundy Center was in charge of arrangements.
