Jack George Souers, 75, of Grundy Center, died June 16 at the Grundy Care Center in Grundy Center. Following cremation, inurnment was held June 23 at the Rose Hill Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Richard and Melissa Frey.

Jack was born June 21, 1928, in Grundy Center, the son of John and June (Peters) Souers. Jack graduated from Boone High School. After graduation, Jack attended the University of Iowa in Iowa City for a couple of years. During his college years, Jack enlisted in the United States Navy on October 25, 1951. He served his country during the Korean War, and was honorably discharged on April 30, 1954.

In the early 1980s, Jack moved from California to live in Waterloo. In December, 1998, Jack became a resident of the Grundy Care Center in Grundy Center.

He is survived by two nieces, Melissa Frey and her husband Richard of Atlanta, GA and Meg Burrow and her husband Tom of Hot Springs, AK; and one brother-in-law, Tom Murrane and his wife Betty of Osceola.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Janelle Murrane.
