Howard D. Cuffel, 77, of Marshalltown, died May 24 at his home. Funeral services were May 27 at Fellowship Baptist church in Marshalltown. Burial was in the Conrad Cemetery. A memorial fund is being established.

Howard was born October 9, 1926, the son of Howard H. and Vera M. (Hanawalt) Cuffel. He graduated from Conrad High School in 1943. He served in the Army in Korea. He was self-employed as a furniture restorer.

He married Phyllis J. Brown on April 22, 1947.

Survivors include three daughters, Beth (Mark) Eddy of Tama, Brenda (Kevin) Walters of Conrad and Becky (Larry) Craig of Grundy Center; a brother, Jerry (Janice) Cuffel, Marion; four sisters, Lorraine (Henry) Nederhoff of Wellsburg, Bonnie (Harlan) Rust of Grundy Center, Marjorie (Donovan) Schmoll of Cedar Falls and Sharon (Lawrence) Grove of Holland; 12 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his wife; and his parents.
