Leona Arter, 90, of Reinbeck, passed away April 17 at Sartori Memorial Hospital in Cedar Falls. Funeral services were April 20 at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, rural Hudson. Burial was held in the Reinbeck Cemetery. A memorial fund is being established.

Leona Dorothea Sophia Dufel was born on March 29, 1914, in Grundy County, the daughter of Chris and Dorothea (Henderickson) Dufel. She grew up attending Zaneta Schools and graduated from Reinbeck High School in 1930. She went on to attend Iowa State Teachers College and then taught in rural schools. On February 15, 1935, Leona married Eldon Arter. The couple divorced in 1964.

She is survived by a son; four grandchildren and two nephews.

Leona was preceded in death by her parents; a brother; and a sister.
