Bertha Algood Services Held

Bertha Algood, 92, of Holland, passed away on Saturday, July 25, at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital, Long Term Care Unit of natural causes.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, July 28, at 10:30 a.m. at the Holland Christian Reformed Church. Burial followed in the Holland Cemetery.

Pallbearers were James Algood, Robert Algood, Dale Algood, Arlan Krogman, Charles Walker and Gene Venenga.

A memorial fund has been established.

Bertha was born on March 3, 1906, in Holland, the daughter of Henry and Antje (Poppen) Siefken. On October 10, 1927, she was united in marriage to Albert Algood in Grundy Center. To this union was born two children, Pauline and Howard. Bertha was a charter member of the Holland Christian Reformed Church, Ladies Aide and was very active in her church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert in 1965; her parents; 5 brothers; and 3 sisters.

Survivors include her daughter, Pauline McFarland of Waterloo; son, Howard Algood of Volga, South Dakota; brother, Henry Siefken and wife Elma of Holland; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; 4 step-grandchildren; 9 step-great-grandchildren; and 4 step-great-great-grandchildren.

The Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home, Grundy Center, was in charge of the arrangements.
