Harry Knock, 77, Dies On Friday

Harry Knock was born the son of Henry O. and Anna Williams Knock on October 13, 1900, in Grundy County near Wellsburg. At the age of 10 he with his parents moved to Parkersburg.

He was united in marriage to Lydia Olthoff on June 15, 1926, in St. Paul's Lutheran Church, rural Wellsburg. They made their home in Parkersburg, and Harry was the Standard Oil Co. agent for 31 years retiring in 1960.

Mr. Knock was a very active member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Parkersburg.

Harry died suddenly about 11 a.m., Friday, October 6, 1978, at his home of a heart attack. He was 77 years, 11 months and 23 days of age.

Survivors are: his wife, Lydia, a son, and daughter-in-law Rolin and Berry Knock of Parkersburg, 3 grandchildren, Jonette, Robyn, and Sarah, a brother, Harm of Parkersburg, a foster daughter, Mrs. Roger (Mariam) Gast of Steamboat Rock, Iowa, two foster great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, and three brothers, Andy, Henry and Fred.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m., Monday, October 9, 1978, in Bethel Lutheran Church in Parkersburg with Rev. Paul Schaedig officiating. Mrs. Audrey Peters was the organist and Stan Thompson sang "In The Garden" and "We're Going Down The Valley One By One." Casketbearers were Markley Knock, his sons, David, Kenneth, Michael, Russell, and Donald Knock. Interment followed in Oak Hill Cemetery, in Parkersburg.

Schwartz-Engelkes Funeral Home in Parkersburg was in charge of the funeral arrangements.
