Miss Jessie Ruter Buried Monday At Area Cemetery
Funeral services for Miss Jessie Ruter were held Monday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. at the Doyen Funeral Home and at 1:30 p.m. at the First Christian Reformed Church.
The Rev. Harold Hollander officiated at the services.
Two selections were sung by a men's quartet, Claus G. Primus, Willis Bakker, Alfred Eiten and Harvey Eiten. Mrs. Henry L. Vandevoort was organist. Flower attendants were Mrs. Fred Ruter and Mrs. Fred Luppen.
Pall bearers were Mrs. Fritz Albers, Clarence Heinrich, John Kruse, John T. Riekena, Mayo Tjaden, and Albert Huisman.
Interment was made in the First Christian Reformed Church cemetery.
Miss Ruter passed away around 3 o'clock Friday morning at the Schoitz Memorial Hospital in Waterloo due to cancer. On June 4th she was taken to the Ellsworth Hospital in Iowa Falls for treatment and then on July 7th was taken to Waterloo. She reached the age of 66 years, 5 months and 20 days.
She was born on a farm in Shiloh Township, Grundy County, south of Wellsburg on January 21, 1903, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter H. Ruter (nee Grace Ross). She attended the rural school in the area. In 1950 she and her brother, Herman moved to Wellsburg where they had built a new home.
She was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church having made confession of her faith in Jesus Christ on March 29, 1927. She was a long time member of the Queen Esther Circle.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Those left to mourn her passing are: 2 brothers, James Ruter of Ackley; Herman P. Ruter of Wellsburg: 1 sister, (Nettie), Mrs. Henry Brower of Iowa Falls; 1 nephew, Joel Brower of Byron Center, Michigan; 1 niece (Jerelyn), Mrs. David Schelhaas of Hull, Iowa; 1 grand-niece, Jodi Brower and a host of other relatives and friends.
