Henry Haupt, Lifelong Local Resident, Dies
Henry Haupt passed away early Friday morning, August 31, at his farm home southwest of Wellsburg due to an apparent heart attack. He reached the age of 58 years, 5 months and 6 days.
He was born on the farm place where he lived on March 25, 1921, the son of Obo and Swantje (nee Nederhoff) Haupt. He attended the rural school in the area. On February 4, 1942, he was united in marriage to Bernice Bakker at the First Christian Reformed Church Parsonage by the Rev. Louis Voskuil. Following their marriage they lived on the Haupt home place farm. This union was blessed with 5 children.
Henry was a long time member of the First Christian Reformed Church of Wellsburg having made profession of his faith in Jesus Christ on March 15, 1942. He had received his baptism in the church on June 5, 1921. At the present time he was serving on the church consistory as an Elder, and also was Vice-President of the consistory.
Preceding him in death were his parents; 1 sister, Anna (Mrs. Lambert Bunger); and one stillborn grandson, Kirk Alan Haupt.
He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Bernice, 3 daughters and 2 sons, Phyllis (Mrs. John Altena) of Fremont, Michigan, Lois, (Mrs. Charles Diehl) of Eldora, Glenda, (Mrs. Dallas Koch) of Wellsburg, Wallace Haupt of Wellsburg, Ralph Haupt of Wellsburg, 13 grandchildren, 2 brothers and 1 sister, August Haupt of Wellsburg, Grace Haupt, now confined to the Long Term Care Unit at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital in Grundy Center, and Oldig Haupt of Eldora. Also left are many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held on Monday, September 3, 1979 at 10:30 a.m. at the First Christian Reformed Church. Rev. Leslie Kuiper, was officiating clergyman. Richard Schafer was soloist. Miss Elizabeth Eekhoff was organist. Flower attendants were Mrs. Floyd Eiten, Mrs. Marlin Berghuis, and Mrs. Bennie Heikens. Pall bearers were Alvin Blythe, Claus Janssen, Carl H. Nederhoff, Melvin Haupt, Kenneth Eekhoff and Raymond Haupt. Interment was made in the First Christian Reformed Church cemetery. Doyen Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
