Obituary Of Harm A. Janssen

Harm A. Janssen, son of Hinderk A. Janssen and Nancy Freese Janssen, was born Sept. 2, 1882, in German Township, Grundy County, Ia. He passed away on April 17, 1973 at the Ellsworth hospital of Iowa Falls, reaching the age of 90 years, 7 months, and 15 days.

On Feb. 9, 1904, he was united in marriage to Christina Arends and they farmed in German township. To this union were born 2 daughters, Nancy and Jennie. In 1931, Mr. Janssen moved to Ackley where he made his home until February of this year, when he became a resident of the Long Nursing Home of Iowa Falls.

Harm Janssen first expressed his faith in Jesus Christ as he united in membership with the Ackley Christian Reformed Church. Later, on August 5, 1917, he became a member of the West Friesland Presbyterian Church of Ackley.

Mr. Janssen was preceded in death by his wife, Christina, one grandson, his parents, 7 brothers, and 2 sisters. He is survived by his two daughters, Nancy, Mrs. Bert Riebkes of Wellsburg, and Jenny, Mrs. Isebrandt C. Harken of Ackley, and also 5 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

Rev. Kenneth Remer officiated with services at the Westfriesland Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Lester Neymeyer, organist, and vocal music provided by Mrs. Chris Ritter and Mrs. Wayne Neymeyer. Ushers were Ernest Boekhoff and LeRoy Huesman. Interment was in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers were Harry Duhn, Marvin Janssen, Virgil Janssen, Leonard Gelder, Eugene Harken, and Delmar Janssen.
