Mrs. Jake Rieken of Ackley Dies Sunday In Allen Memorial

Funeral services for Mrs. Jake Rieken of Ackley were held at Brandt's Funeral Home in Ackley Wednesday at 1:30 p.m., conducted by the Rev. John Schortinghuis.

Interment was in the cemetery of St. Peter's United Church of Christ, northwest of Wellsburg.

Mrs. Rieken passed away Sunday, September 30, at the age of 81, at Allen Memorial Hospital at Waterloo.

Ockje DeBuhr, daughter of Hei and Sena DeBuhr, was born in Grundy County April 13, 1881. She spent her early years near Cleves. She was married on February 2, 1904, to Jake Rieken, who with five children survives her.

The children are three sons, Richard, Harvey and Irvin, of Ackley, and two daughters, Mrs. H. M. VanTiger of Ackley and Miss Grace Rieken of Waterloo. Also surviving Mrs. Rieken are two sisters, Mrs. Ben Tellinghuisen of White, S.D., and Mrs. Johanna Hook of Grundy Center, a brother, Harm DeBuhr, Ackley, three granddaughters and three great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Rieken, who was a devoted wife and mother, spent most of her life on a farm near Ackley. In February, 1948, she and her husband moved to Ackley, where she lived until the time of her death.

Mrs. Rieken was a member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ (formerly Evangelical and Reformed).
