Russell Williams Dies at S.U.I. Hospital Friday
Russell H. Williams, 38, passed away at about 10 a.m. Friday, December 24 at the University hospital at Iowa City. He became ill about a month ago of a kidney ailment and entered the University hospital, where he stayed for a short time and then returned home. His death was due to uremic poisoning.
Mr. Williams was employed at the Farmers Elevator.
He was born March 23, 1916, near Reinbeck, Iowa in Tama County. He was married to Jeanette Boelman June 15, 1939. They lived at Gladbrook and other places before coming to Ackley ten years ago.
Mr. Williams joined the Evangelical United Brethren Church of Ackley June 2, 1949.
The Rev. Henning, pastor of the Evangelical United Brethren Church conducted funeral services Monday afternoon from the home and later from the church. Burial was at St. Peter's Evangelical and Reformed Church cemetery near Wellsburg.
Surviving Mr. Williams are his wife; three children, all at home, Larry, Lois and Sandra; his mother, Mrs. Rose Williams of Toledo; two brothers, Lester of Toledo, and Raymond of Hudson; three sisters, Mrs. Cletus Kopel of Waterloo, Mrs. Hilton Gloe of Gladbrook, and Mrs. Robert Ledtje of Gladbrook.
He was preceded in death by his father on November 3, 1951.
