Peter Eckhoff Died Suddenly

The community was startled Tuesday morning by the news that Peter Eekhoff, one of the oldest residents of this part of the county, had died suddenly at his home in the west part of town about 10 o'clock Monday night.

Mr. Eekhoff had been in failing health for some time, with sinking spells, during one of which death ensued. He was apparently in his usual condition up to a short time before death.

He leaves a family of grown sons and daughters, and the family is one of the most highly respected in the county.

The funeral will be held at 1 o'clock Friday at the home and services will be held later at the Bode church west of Wellsburg.

Mr. Eekhoff was born in Emden, Germany, on January 17th, 1849.

He came to America when 18 and settled at Ridott, Ill., In 1872, he married Ada Wienenga. To them a large family--thirteen children--were born, seven of whom, three sons and seven daughters, survive.

Mr. Eekhoff had been a resident of Grundy county for thirty-seven years.
