Funeral Services Held Saturday For Harry Ulfers

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. at the John Doyen home and at 1:30 p.m. at the Westfriesland Presbyterian Church at Ackley for Harry Ulfers who died Wednesday, Nov. 16, 1955 in a hospital in Bismarck, North Dakota at the age of 76 years, 9 months and 11 days. Rev. Norman F. Flink was officiating clergyman. Interment was made in the cemetery adjoining the church.

Harry Ulfers, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harm Ulfers, was born on February 5, 1879 in Grundy County, Iowa. He grew up in the vicinity of the Westfriesland Presbyterian church where he received his religion instruction in catechism and Sunday School. In February 1905 he made confession of his faith and joined the fellowship of the above mentioned church.

On September 28, 1904 he was united in marriage to Miss Henrietta Jansonius. They began farming east of Ackley and later in the spring of 1914 moved to North Dakota. While in North Dakota they were instrumental in having a church built near them and both Mr. and Mrs. Ulfers took an active part in all its activities.

Mr. Ulfers was preceded in death by his wife on August 9, 1955, and by four brothers and one sister. There remain to mourn his death four sisters who are Anna Beninga of Marietta, Minnesota; Nancie (Mrs. Jerry Arends), Jane (Mrs. Henry Arends) and Verna (Mrs. Frank Anders) all of Ackley; also one brother, Clarence Ulfers of Ackley.
