Heart Attack Takes Life of Ubbe L. Harken

Ubbe L. Harken, a lifelong resident of this vicinity, died Thursday at his home in Iowa Falls of a heart attack. He was 68 years old.

Mr. Harken was born September 26, 1886 in Butler county. He was married February 16, 1909, to Nancy Janssen, and they farmed east of Ackley until 1940, when they moved to Iowa Falls.

Mr. Harken was a member of the Westfriesland Presbyterian church.

Surviving are his widow; two sons, Irvin of Iowa Falls and Harold of Ackley; two daughters, Mrs. Wendell Eldred of Winter Park, Colo., and Mrs. Ernest Nicklos of Waterloo; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild; four sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Rykena, Mrs. Ben Stubbe and Miss Anna Harken, all of Ackley, and Mrs. Sarah Abbas of Iowa Falls; and six brothers, Ehme of Iowa Falls; Isebrand of Jesup; John of Cedar Falls, Eno of Austinville, Raymond of Aplington and Will of Ackley.

He was preceded in death by three sons, a brother and a sister.

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at the Westfriesland Presbyterian church with the Rev. Peter H. Eekhoff officiating and the Rev. Dewey Lambrecht assisting.

Burial was in the Westfriesland cemetery.
