Uko Wiarde, Long a Resident of This Community, Died Sept. 23; Funeral Today

Funeral services for Uko Wiarde, many years a resident of this community, are being held this (Thursday) afternoon at his late residence in this city and at the West Friesland Presbyterian church. Born June 1st, 1871, at Kretzum, East Friesland, Germany, he came to America with his parents in 1882, settling in Grundy county. March 16, 1899, he was united in marriage to Miss Elizabeth Ackerman, who, with one daughter, Miss Elizabeth, and two sons, Ben and Fred, survive. There are also four sisters, Mrs. Dorothea Eggers, Eldora, Mrs. Coart Janssen, Ackley, Misses Jeanette and Anna, of Aplington; two brothers, Jacob, of Grundy Center, and Robert of Ackley.

Funeral services are to be conducted by the Rev. Peter Eekhoff, pastor of West Friesland church.
