Many Years a Resident of Ackley and North Grundy County Died at Midnight Wednesday
Mrs. William Miekley, one of the early pioneer residents of north Grundy county, and for upwards of twenty years a resident of Ackley, died at her home here at 11 o'clock last (Wednesday) night. Until quite recently she had been able to be up and about; during the last two weeks she had been obliged to keep within doors.
Mrs. Miekley was in her 82nd year. Mr. Miekley preceded her in death several years ago. Relatives are living at various points; there are no children. Funeral services are to be held Saturday afternoon at the Nelson funeral parlors. Obituary in our next issue.

Old Time Resident To Her Final Rest
Mrs. William Miekley Funeral Services Held Saturday
Funeral services for Mrs. William Miekley, 82, who died at midnight Wednesday night, a week ago, were held last Saturday afternoon at St. John's Evangelical church, Rev. Frank C. Kroll, the pastor officiating. Interment was in Westfriesland Presbyterian church cemetery three miles southeast of Ackley.
Mrs. Miekley was born Martha Eden on July 11, 1862, in Grundy County where she grew to womanhood. She married William Miekley 46 years ago. They came to Ackley to make their home in 1900. Through many years Mr. and Mrs. Miekley lived on a farm in German township. Mr. Miekley died in 1912. Since that time, Mrs. Miekley had lived alone up to the time of her brief illness.
Surviving are one brother, Eno Eden of Clear Lake; two sisters, Mrs. Etta Stoehr of Woden and Mrs. Mary Bruns of Titonka, Iowa.
Mrs. Miekley will be greatly missed by many friends that she had in Ackley. She was always cheerful and felt a keen interest in those about her. Hers was a long and useful and helpful life.
