H. L. Siemers Dead

Had Been A Resident Of The Community Since 1869

Died During the Night of Tuesday; Survived by Wife, Son, Three Daughters--Funeral Saturday

Herman Luder Siemers was born on December 16, 1858, at Bremershaven, Germany. He came to America with his parents, two sisters, and one brother, at the age of eleven, in the year 1869. The family came directly to Ackley. In March, 1888, Mr. Siemers was united in marriage to Miss Gretchen Zwagerman, who survives him. Mr. and Mrs. Siemers made their home on a farm three and one-half miles southeast of Ackley, throughout the years, until eighteen years ago, at which time they purchased a residence place on First avenue in Ackley and removed from the farm.

To Mr. and Mrs. Siemers were born five children, one son and four daughters, the eldest of whom, Gertie, (Mrs. Carl Band) passed away three weeks ago at Pennock, Minn. The four children who remain to mourn their father's loss are: Herman, Indianapolis, Ind.; Mrs. Joe S. Fisher, Ackley; Miss Anna, Oakdale; and Miss Margaret, Charles City.

The deceased was a member of Westfriesland Presbyterian church, east of Ackley.

Had Mr. Siemers lived until March, he and Mrs. Siemers would have celebrated the 49th anniversary of their wedding.

Besides the immediate family members already named, Mr. Siemers is survived by one sister, Mrs. Etta Green of Baldwin, Iowa, and seven grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at one o'clock at his late home and at 1:30 at the Westfriesland Presbyterian church, Rev. Mr. Johnson officiating.

Interment will occur in the family lot, in the cemetery adjoining the church named.

The family has the sympathy of the community in their bereavement.
