Farm Woman Near Aplington Dies

Mrs. G. H. Geiken, 56, who suffered severe burns Aug. 31 when kerosene being used to start a fire exploded, died unexpectedly Saturday, the 8th. It is believed a paralytic stroke was the cause. She had appeared to be recovering from the burns.

Survivors are her husband, a son and four daughters, as named: Henry, Lucile, Willard, and Marlyn, Aplington, and Mrs. Ecko G. Mennen, Allison.

Services were held Tuesday afternoon at the home, one-half mile east and one-half mile north of Aplington, and later at Aplington Reformed church, with Rev. Henry Pannkuk officiating.

Mrs. Geiken was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Deeters, who for many years tenanted a farm in German township, east of the Miekley farms, eight miles southeast of Ackley.
