Death Came to Him at His Home Here Friday Evening

The death of Eppe Arends occurred at his home in Ackley last Friday evening after an illness of only four days.

Mr. Arends, until coming to Ackley several years ago, was engaged in farming east of Ackley; coming to the community in the 80's. During the later years he had been troubled with rheumatism that affected him seriously but at most times he was able to be out and around, doing his accustomed chores and other duties about the home. The past several years that he has been a resident of Ackley, he and his daughter, Anna, were alone; Mrs. Arends having died--years ago.

He was born in 1857. Funeral services were held at his late home Tuesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Krafft, pastor of First Evangelical church.
