Heiko T. Neessen Funeral Monday

Heiko Thomas Neessen, 86, of Grundy Center passed away at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital Friday, March 20, where he had been a patient for two weeks.

Funeral services were held on Monday afternoon at St. Paul's Lutheran church, Wellsburg. Rev. Donald Brown and Rev. E. H. Buschman officiated. Burial was in Rose Hill cemetery at Grundy Center.

Mrs. Eldon Harms was organist and accompanied her husband who sang "Rock Of Ages" and "Jesus, Saviour Pilot Me." Casket bearers were Tom Neessen, Bud Kinney, Paul Neessen, Heiko R. Neessen, Michael Kinney and Tom Folkers.

The Ferree-Abbas Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Heiko Thomas Neessen, son of Thomas and Alberta Johnson Neessen, was born in Colfax township near Holland, on Feb. 4, 1884. He attended the rural schools in the area.

On Sept. 12, 1912 he married Emma Elizabeth Bienfang. Following their marriage, they began farming northwest of Holland. In 1937 they retired from the farm and moved to Grundy Center.

Mrs. Neessen passed away on Jan. 10, 1953.

In August of 1955, he was married to Tena Lutterman Welch of Wellsburg.

Mr. Neessen had been a member of the St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church all of his life.

Preceding him in death were his parents, his first wife, three brothers and two sisters.

Those left to mourn his passing are his widow, Tena, one son, Thomas Neessen of Des Moines, one daughter, Phyllis, Mrs. A. L. Kinney of Grundy Center, five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Dena Knock and Mrs. Alice Claassen, both of Grundy Center, Mrs. Raymond (Minnie) Murphy of Waterloo and one brother, Thomas Neessen of Waterloo.
