Donald Ashton Services Held

Donald W. Ashton, 76, of Conrad, passed away on Friday, December 4, at Oakview Nursing Home of Emphysema.

Funeral services were held on Monday, December 7, at 10:30 a.m. at the Beaman United Methodist Church with Rev. Robert Shreve officiating.

Pallbearers were Ray Brockman, Homer Anderson, John Kaput, Melvin Stephenson, Darwin Vint, and Ken Barfels.

Interment was in the Oakland Cemetery in Beaman.

Donald was born March 26, 1915, the son of George and Frances Whorrall Ashton in Beaman. On January 19, 1944, he was united in marriage to Lucille E. Wogan in Augusta, GA.

Donald was a self-employed mechanic and was the owner of Ashton Bros Garage along with his brother Floyd. He served in US Army during WWII having served in both France and Germany. He was a charter member of Beaman Lions Club; served many years on Beaman City Council and Fire Department; and a member of the Weatherman-Walter American Legion Post #131 in Beaman. He retired from Ashton Bros. Garage in 1977.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille, on September 28, 1987; a daughter, Beverly K.; and his parents.

Survivors include a daughter, Rosemary Stanley of Wilton; 2 sons, Richard W. of Woodward, and Thomas G. of Beaman; 1 brother, Floyd C. of Beaman; and 4 grandchildren.

Johnston Funeral Home in Conrad was in charge of the arrangements.
