Oscar Miller Services Held
Oscar Miller, of Parkersburg, died on Tuesday, October 20, at the Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo. He reached the age of 84 years and 4 months.
Funeral services were held on Friday, October 23, at 1:30 p.m. in the Reformed Church of Stout with the Rev. Donald Ringnalda officiating. Pallbearers were Roger Bergman, William Bergman, Bill Grimm, John Peters, Harold Rademaker, Duane Nevenhoven, and Harvey Eiklenborg.
Interment was held in the Stout Cemetery following the service.
Oscar was born the son of Koert and Carrie Meyer Miller on June 20, 1908 near Stout. He received his education in a Grundy County Country school. Oscar later joined the Army in 1942 and served until 1945.
On July 17, 1945, Oscar was united in marriage to Johanna Bergman in the parsonage of the Reformed Church of Stout. Their first 5 years of their marriage they lived in Stout, and then moved to a farm near New Hartford. They farmed together until 1983 when they moved to their present home in Parkersburg. Oscar has been an active member of the Reformed Church of Stout for many years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Johanna on July 11, 1991; his parents; brother, Koert, and half-brother, Jake; 6 sisters, Alice Tapper, Janette Grimm, Ann Sorensen, Marie Peters, Carrie Horner and one in infancy; three half-sisters, Minnie Pothast, Jennie Kruger, and Etta Seehusen.
Oscar is survived by his children: two sons, Alvin and his wife Verla Miller of Parkersburg, and Rodney and his wife Kathy Miller of Roselle, Illinois; two daughters, Lorraine Kuker of Omaha, Nebraska, and Mavis and her husband Bill Garbes of Dunkerton; 11 grandchildren; two sisters, Dena Rademaker of Stout, and Jessie Conrad of Cedar Falls.
Schwartz Funeral Home of Parkersburg was in charge of the arrangements.
