Everett Bleeker Services Held
Everett L. Bleeker, Sr. died Thursday, June 11, at Sartori Memorial Hospital in Cedar Falls having attained the age of 80 years, 11 months, and 15 days, of natural causes.
Mr. Bleeker was born June 27, 1911, in Renville, MN the son of Harry and Rena (Van Horne) Bleeker. He received his education in Minnesota and Grundy Center. On December 11, 1942, he was united in marriage to Grace F. Behrends in Grundy Center.
Following his marriage, Everett served in the United States Army during W.W. II in Europe. He then worked construction in Illinois and in Waterloo for several years. He farmed by Dike for 7 years, then moved to Cedar Falls for 18 years where he was employed by Wayne Engineering. He retired on April 1, 1977, moved to Lansing and later returned to Cedar Falls.
He was a former member of IBEW.
He was preceded in death by his wife Grace in 1979; his parents; and by one sister, Flora Bleeker in 1978.
Survivors include two sons, Richard of Cedar Falls, and Everett L. Bleeker, Jr. of Glendale, Arizona; three daughters, Joyce Bleeker of Cedar Falls, Renetta (Mrs. Stephen) Betz of Waverly, and Coleen (Mrs. Randy) Blackburn of Mesa, Arizona; 7 grandchildren; and two sisters, Anna Meyeraan, and Irene Krull, both of Grundy Center.
Funeral services were held Monday, June 15 at Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home in Grundy Center at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Glenn R. Dieken officiating. Pallbearers were the American Legion Post #349 members. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery, Grundy Center. Graveside rites were conducted by the Grundy Center American Legion Post #349 and Amvets 17.
The Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home in Grundy Center was in charge of the arrangements.
