Dan Dietch Dies In Electrical Accident Friday In Conrad

A Conrad businessman was killed Friday after being accidentally electrocuted.

The Grundy County Sheriff's Dept. said Daniel R. Dietch, 44, was found unconscious Friday on Conrad's west side after a boom he was operating came in contact with overhead power lines.

Dietch, who owned Dietch Concrete Inc., was taken to Marshalltown Medical & Surgical Center where he was pronounced dead Friday.

Assisting at the scene were the Beaman and Conrad First Responders and MMSC ambulance crew.

The accident remains under investigation by the Sheriff's Dept.

Daniel Dietch Services Held

Daniel Raynard Dietch, of Conrad, was born on October 29, 1947 the son of William and Violet Boege Dietch in Cedar Falls. He died on Friday, April 17 at MMSC in Marshalltown of an accidental electrocution which occurred west of Conrad at the Hanzelka Garage and Moler Sanitation sites.

Daniel was united in marriage to Susan Blythe. He was the owner/operator of Dietch Concrete, Inc. in Conrad, was a member of the Conrad American Legion Post 681 and the Conrad Chamber of Commerce.

Survivors include his wife, Susan; two daughters, Sarah M. Dietch and Stacy A. Dietch both of Conrad; two sister, Patricia Hertema of Midland, MI, and Joann Dietch of Des Moines; three brothers, William I. Dietch of Grundy Center, David A. Dietch of Urbandale, and Michael L. Dietch of Ankeny.

Funeral services were held on Monday, April 20 at 1:30 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Conrad with Rev. Eric Nielsen officiating. Casketbearers were Todd Onnen, Mel Vogt, Rick Schroeder, Mike Benson, Shannon Smith, and Doug Kruse. Burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Grundy Center. There was a Legion Committal Service by the Conrad American Legion Post #681.

Johnston Funeral Home in Conrad was in charge of the arrangements.
