Lester Weichers Services Held

Lester Weichers of Parkersburg was born the son of Dick and Malena Molendorp Weichers on September 30, 1921, in the Shiloh Township, Grundy County.

On December 1, 1951, Lester was united in marriage to Esther Harberts in the Little Brown Church in Nashua. They made their home in the Waterloo area. Lester was employed as a truck driver for the Black Hawk County Maintenance Department for many years. Lester enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was also a member of the First Congregational Church in Parkersburg.

On March 20 Lester died at his home in Parkersburg. He reached the age of 70 years, 5 months, and 20 days. He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 sisters, Anna (Mrs. Richard) Rindels of Bristow, and Leona (Mrs. Leo) Hopkins of Morrison; and 2 brothers, Conrad Weichers and John Weichers, both of Wellsburg.

Lester is survived by his wife, Esther of Parkersburg; 5 sisters, Grace Freese of Wellsburg, Rena (Mrs. Harm) Huisman of Buffalo Center, Nettie (Mrs. Dick) Huisman of Wellsburg, Edna (Mrs. Paul) Kreb of Waterloo, and Mildred Weichers of Wellsburg; and 2 brothers, Harold Weichers of Wellsburg and Dale Weichers of Loveland, Colorado.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m., Monday, March 23 at the First Congregational Church in Parkersburg with Rev. Rod Wetzig officiating. Casketbearers were Vernon Rindels, Harley Freese, LaVern VanHeiden, Duane Huisman, Dennis Huisman, and Gordon Weichers. Interment was at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Grundy Center.

Schwartz Funeral Home in Parkersburg was in charge of the arrangements.
