Leslie C. Green, 85, of Conrad, IA passed away Sunday, March 22, 2015 at Allen Hospital in Waterloo, IA. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, March 27, 2015 at the Conrad United Methodist Church in Conrad, IA. Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, March 26, 2015, at the Conrad Chapel of the Anderson Funeral Homes, in Conrad. Pastor Gene Kubli will officiate with interment in the Conrad Memorial Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Conrad American Legion Post 681 or the Winnebago Council- Boy Scouts of America. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Conrad Chapel of the Anderson Funeral Homes.

Leslie C. Green, son of Clifford and Mahala (Bauerle) Green was born July 3, 1929 in Conrad, Iowa. He attended Conrad High School, graduating with the class of 1947. After high school Les began the ROTC program at Iowa State University. From 1949 to 1952, Les enlisted in the United States Army and served overseas during the Korean War, where he earned the Korean Campaign Ribbon with 4 stars. After returning to Iowa he continued his service for another 4 years with the Iowa National Guard, obtaining the rank of Sergeant. On June 3, 1956 he was united in marriage to Margaret Elaine Persinger in Grundy Center, Iowa. Four children: Charles, Lawrence, Nancy and Mary were born to this union. Les began working at Green Products before serving in the Korean War and upon his honorable discharge he returned to Green Products and worked as an office manager for over 50 years before retiring at the age of 83.

Les was a lifetime member of the Conrad American Legion Post 681 where he recently reached a milestone of being a member for 60 years, and the Korean War Veterans Association. He was a member of the Boy Scouts of America where he served in many leadership roles and proudly watched two sons and a grandson become Eagle Scouts. Les was a longtime member of the National Rifle Association and was a 50+ year member of both the Conrad Lions Club and Grundy Center Methodist Church.

Surviving Les are his wife, Margaret of Conrad, IA; son, Lawrence (Glenda) and their children Trevor and Kierra of Hampton, IA; daughters, Nancy (Gary) Kalkwarf and their children, Gregory, Bryon and Molly of Pella, IA, and Mary Green-Warnstadt (Steve) and their children, Stephanie and Jackson of Sioux City, IA; daughter-in-law, Deb Green of Conrad, IA and her children, Sharon (Gabe) Smith and baby Smith of Walnut, IL, Devan Green (Carmen) and their daughter, Sofia of Conrad, IA, and Deidra Green of Conrad, IA.

Les was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Mahala; son, Charles; and two brothers, Robert and James.
