Carroll Allen, 83, of Reinbeck, passed away on Monday, June 8, 2015 at the Parkview Manor in Reinbeck while under the care of Cedar Valley Hospice. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, June 13, 2015, at the St. John's Lutheran Church in Reinbeck, Iowa. Burial will follow at the Reinbeck Cemetery in Reinbeck. Visitation will be Friday, June 12, 2015, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at French Hand Funeral Home in Reinbeck. Memorials may be directed to the family.
Carroll Leroy was born on June 21, 1931 in Victor, Iowa, the son of Roy & Iona (Norton) Allen. A lifelong Reinbeck area resident, Carroll attended school in Traer, Iowa. Carroll honorably served his country with the United States Marine Corps. Carroll was united in marriage to Elizabeth Jane Storjohann at St. John's Lutheran Church in Reinbeck, Iowa on July 20, 1957. He farmed the majority of his life retiring in 2000.
He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Reinbeck. He was a member of the Reinbeck American Legion Action Post #242, Oak Leaf Country Club in Reinbeck and AMVETS Post #10, in Lincoln, IA.
Carroll loved socializing with family, friends, and anyone willing to talk to him. He enjoyed farming, golfing and playing cards. Most important to him was time spent with his family.
Carroll is survived by his wife of 57 years, Elizabeth of Reinbeck; children, Deb (Jeff) Oltmann of Cedar Falls, Steve (Brenda) Allen of Hudson and Roger (Michelle) Allen of Reinbeck; 4 grandchildren, Joshua Allen, Becky Presar, Lauren Miller, Aaron Oltmann; 3 great- grandchildren, Isabella Allen, Gabi Allen and Kiley Presar; brother, Nathan (Virginia) Allen of Manchester; sister-in-law, Janice Allen of Hudson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Dennis and great-grandchild, Aubrey Presar.
