Bertha Meints Services Saturday

Bertha Meints, 96, of Allendale, Michigan, formerly of Wellsburg, died Monday, Feb. 10, at Hudsonville Nursing Home in Hudsonville, Michigan.

Services are tentatively scheduled for Saturday, February 15th, 11 a.m. at the First Christian Reformed church in rural Wellsburg. Burial in the church cemetery. Visitation is 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, February 14th, at the Doyen Abels Funeral Home in Wellsburg and at the church one hour prior to the service. A Memorial fund has been established.

She is survived by one sister, Henrietta (Mrs. John Kruse) of Wellsburg.

Bertha Meints Services Held

Mrs. Bertha Meints was born January 16, 1896 in Shiloh Township, Grundy County, the daughter of Henry and Martha (Deters) Schafer. She passed away Monday, February 10 at the Hudsonville, Michigan, having attained the age of 96 years and 25 days.

Mrs. Meints was united in marriage to Charles L. Meints on September 7, 1921 in Wellsburg.

Bertha and Charles made their home in Wellsburg for many years. After her husband passed away in 1965, Bertha moved to Allendale, Michigan. She visited Wellsburg once or twice each year until her health prohibited her travels. Mrs. Meints enjoyed gardening, flowers, singing, and spending time with her entire family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Charles; and an infant son.

Survivors include one daughter, Marlys and husband Keith Baker of Hudsonville, Michigan; 6 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. John (Henrietta) Kruse of Wellsburg; and one sister-in-law, Grace Schafer of Wellsburg.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, February 15 at the First Christian Reformed Church in Wellsburg at 11 a.m. with Rev. Charles Kooger officiating. Pallbearers were Gregory Baker, Douglas Baker, Geoffrey Baker, Mitchell Baker, Richard Schafer, and Bernard Beninga. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home in Grundy Center was in charge of the arrangements.
