Anna Raske Rites Friday, Dec. 27
Mrs. Anna Raske was born October 4, 1908 in Grundy County, Iowa, to John and Kate (Poppen) Arends. She entered into eternal rest December 24, 1991, at her home of natural causes, having attached the age of 83 years, 2 months, and 20 days.
Anna was united in marriage to Richard Raske December 19, 1929, at the home of her parents near Fern. To this union one daughter was born. Anna and Richard farmed in Lincoln Township the first ten years, and in 1942 moved and farmed in Beaver Township until 1967 when then moved to Grundy Center. Anna spent her entire life as a homemaker and mother.
She was a member of Lincoln Center Christian Reformed Church until 1968, and then became a member of Bethany Presbyterian Church in Grundy Center.
Anna was preceded in death by her parents; husband Richard in 1985; three infant brothers; and one sister, Lena Luchtenburg.
She is survived by her daughter, Lois Uhlenhopp and friend Austin Blomgren of Grundy Center; two grandchildren, Lisa Hess and husband Garry of Waterloo, and Leland Uhlenhopp and fiance Marilyn Thompson and children Jerret and Robert Thompson, all of rural Sheffield; one great-grandchild, Erik Hess; two brothers, Joe Arends of New Hartford, and Ernest Arends of Parkersburg; and two sisters, Martha Arends of Aplington, and Lillian Myers of Parkersburg.
Funeral services were held Friday, December 27, 1991, at Bethany Presbyterian Church in Grundy Center at 3:00 p.m., with Rev. Calvin Vanderwerf officiating.
Casket bearers were Ray Wilson, Harold Abels, Dick Seehusen, Andy Haan, John Seehusen and Bernerd Buskohl. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery, Grundy Center.
A memorial fund has been established.
The Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home, Grundy Center, was in charge of professional arrangements.
