John D. Craig Services Held

John Daniel Craig was born February 11, 1922 to William and Golda Walker Craig in Grundy County. He passed away Sunday, December 1 at Covenant Medical Center on Kimball in Waterloo, having attained the age of 69 years, 9 months, and 29 days.

John graduated from Reinbeck High School in 1942. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during W.W. II. On March 29, 1947 John was united in marriage to Bernice Plaehn in Reinbeck.

John farmed in Tama County and in the Dike area and retired from Farmers Cooperative in Dike in 1985.

He was a member of Fredsville Lutheran Church, American Legion Post #471 of Dike, Voiture 40/8, and Danish Brotherhood. He was past commander of the Legion and treasurer of Voiture 40/8.

Preceding him in death were his parents; one infant brother; and infant twins, a son and daughter.

Survivors include his wife Bernice; two sons, Dennis of Carlisle, and Bob of Marshalltown; one daughter, Jean (Mrs. Jim) Loger of Dike; 2 granddaughters; and 3 grandsons; and two brothers, Paul of Marshalltown, and Myron of Reinbeck.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, December 4 at Fredsville Evangelical Lutheran Church in rural Cedar Falls at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Don Benson and Gary Esboldt officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Curt Plaehn, Barry Ewoldt, Alan Craig, Gordon Arp, Dean Hauschildt, and Mike Craig.

The Dike Funeral Chapel was in charge of the arrangements.
