Jerry Aswegan Services Held

Jerry Aswegan, 79, of Stout, passed away on July 13 at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital in Grundy Center.

Funeral services were held July 16 at the Reformed Church of Stout at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Don Ringnalda officiating.

Burial was in the Stout Cemetery.

Casket bearers were Robert McBride, Patrick Aswegan, Marvin Hook, Ray Wilson, Donavon Ash, and Eldon Aswegan.

Jerry was born April 3, 1912, in Grundy County, the son of Carl and Jessie Bruns Aswegan. He grew up and attended school in Grundy County.

He was united in marriage to Margaret Ash on December 30, 1935, in Franklin County. After his marriage, Jerry was an independent trucker until 1970. He then worked for the Stout elevator until 1981.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Jennie Syhlman.

Survivors include his wife Margaret; two sons, Jerry and wife Ruby of Wilcox, Arizona; and James and wife Barbara of Richardson, Texas; 2 grandchildren; 5 step-grandchildren; 7 step-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Katharine VanHauen of Parkersburg.

The Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home in Grundy Center was in charge of arrangements.
