Rites Held For Ella Freese
Funeral services for Ella Freese, 87, of Steamboat Rock, were held on July 16 at the First Christian Reformed Church, rural Wellsburg, at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Douglas H. Bratt officiating.
Burial was in the church cemetery.
Casket bearers were Melvin Jeske, Larry Meints, Bradley Meints, Dennis Meints, Loren Jeske, and Edward Nederhoff.
Ella Freese was born April 24, 1904, in Grundy County, the daughter of Ludwig and Frauke Bakker Meints. She received her education in Grundy county and attended the Edgewood Sewing School in Iowa Falls.
On April 6, 1938, she was united in marriage to Diederick (Dick) Gerhard Freese and spent her life on the family farm in Shiloh Township until 1985 when she and Dick moved to Long Term Care in the Grundy County Memorial Hospital.
Ella was a life-time member of the First Christian Reformed Church of Wellsburg. She was a charter member of the Queen Esther Circle.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Charley, George, Willie, and Louis Meints; and two sisters, Mrs. Marvin (Jennie) Jeske and Grace Heronimus.
She is survived by her husband, Dick; sons LuVern of Conrad and Darrell of Steamboat Rock; three granddaughters and one grandson.
The Doyen-Abels Funeral Home in Wellsburg was in charge of arrangements.
