Rites Held For Bertha Henze
Bertha Henze, 82, of Reinbeck, formerly of Grundy Center, passed away Wednesday, April 10, at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo.
Funeral services were held Saturday, April 13, in The American Lutheran Church in Grundy Center, at 1:30 p.m., with Pastor Paul Nelson officiating.
Pallbearers were Virgil Muller, LaVerne Seehusen, Bud Henze, Harold Aswegan, Ernest Henze, and Jim Lewis.
Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery in Grundy Center.
Bertha, the daughter of John and Dena Gelder Seehusen, was born on July 25, 1908, in Grundy County. She attended grade school in Beaver Township, Grundy County. Bertha worked for various families in the Grundy County area.
On February 2, 1928, Bertha was united in marriage to Chris Henze. The couple then farmed for over 25 years on a farm west of Dike. After they retired from farming in 1955, they moved to Grundy Center.
Bertha was a resident at Parkview Nursing Home in Reinbeck. She was a member of the American Lutheran Church in Grundy Center for many years before transferring her membership to St. John's Lutheran Church in Reinbeck.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Chris in 1976; and one sister, Annie Muller.
Bertha is survived by one son, Fred C. Henze of Grundy Center; two daughters, Mrs. Jack (Laura) Kaus of Hudson, and Mrs. Gale (Delores) Folkerts of Reinbeck; three brothers, John Seehusen of Grundy Center, Dick Seehusen, and George Seehusen, both of Parkersburg; one sister Grace Rewerts of Hutchingson, MN; eight grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.
A memorial fund has been established.
The Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
