Rites Held For Carroll Butler

Carroll W. Butler Jr., 78, passed away Friday, January 4, at the Grundy Care Center where he became a resident in 1984.

Services were held at the Johnston Funeral Home on Monday, January 7, at 1:30 p.m., with the Rev. David Crow officiating.

Casket bearers were members of the Roman Masonic Lodge.

Burial was in the Conrad Cemetery, with committal services by the Roman Masonic Lodge #564 A.F. and A.M.

Mr. Butler was born on May 25, 1912, to Carroll W. and Jennie V. Butler in Chicago, IL.

He was united in marriage to his first wife, Katherine M. Shepherd, on June 10, 1938 in Des Moines.

On April 19, 1974, he was united in marriage to Myrtle M. Wilson in Bay Minette, AL.

Carroll was a bricklayer in Texas and then in Conrad before he retired.

He was a 50 years member of the Roman Masonic Lodge #564, and a member of the St. Elmo Chapter O.E.S. #398.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Katherine; and one sister.

He is survived by his wife, Myrtle, of Conrad; two daughters, Janice Juchems of Conrad and Melissa Weatherly of Franklinville, NC; two sons, Edward G. Butler of Beaman, and Richard C. Butler of Conrad; two step-daughters, Roberta Wise of Panama City, FL, and Rebecca Butler of Conrad; a brother, Grant Butler of Canyon Lake, TX; one sister, Genevieve Morgan of Fort Walton Beach, FL; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Johnston Funeral Home in Conrad was in charge of arrangements.
