Edith Weseman Services Held

Edith Weseman, 61, of rural Grundy Center, passed away on Thursday, November 2, at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital in Grundy Center.

Funeral services were held at Bethany Presbyterian Church, Grundy Center, on Monday, November 6, at 10:30 a.m. Rev. Calvin Vanderwerf officiated.

Craig DeBerg sang "Morning Has Broken," and "The King Is Coming." He was accompanied by Mrs. Raymond Appel, who also played selected numbers for the prelude and postlude.

Casket bearers were Wilbur Petersen, John Rhoads, Eldon DeVries, LaVerne Schroeder, Marvin VanDeest and John DeLange.

Edward Flater, Robert Wolthoff and Lloyd Dreesman were ushers. Mrs. Art Henze and Mrs. Vernon Kruger were in charge of the floral arrangements.

Interment was in Rose Hill Cemetery, Grundy Center.

Edith June Weseman was born January 2, 1928, in Butler county, the daughter of John and Hanna Frerichs Kramer. Edith graduated from Aplington High School in 1945, and attended Teachers College in Cedar Falls. She taught in Stout for two years after graduation.

On June 11, 1948, Edith was united in marriage to George K. Weseman in Butler county. Together they farmed for many years northeast of Grundy Center.

Edith was a member of Bethany Presbyterian Church and taught Sunday School for many years. She was a typesetter and copy editor for the Spokesman Press, retiring in 1987. She had a great appreciation for nature and enjoyed studying and photographing wildflowers and native grasses.

Edith was preceded in death by her father, John Kramer.

She is survived by her husband, George, of Grundy Center; her mother, Hanna Kramer, Aplington; two sons, Robert of Nebraska, and James of Cedar Falls; two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Joan) Rose, Waterloo, and Judith Weseman, Grundy Center; two grandchildren; and one brother, John Kramer, of DeMotte, IN.

The Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home in Grundy Center was in charge of the funeral arrangements.
