Rites Held For Ilene Myers, 70

Ilene Myers, 70, of Conrad, passed away Thursday, October 12, at the Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center.

Funeral services were held Monday, October 16, at 1:30 p.m., at the Beaman United Methodist Church with Revs. Harold Schirm and Robert Winter officiating.

Special music was provided by the church choir. Mrs. Robert Winter was the organist.

Honorary casket bearers were John Zink, Frank Miller, Carl Borton, Charles Neff, Kenneth Lynch and Virtus Ramundt.

Casket bearers were Michael, Alan and Donald Myers, Ronald Swann, Kent Johnson and James Russell.

Burial was at the Oakland Cemetery in Beaman.

Ilene Myers was born November 19, 1918, in Barnard, MO, the daughter of Clarence and Ollie Turner Swann. She attended country school at Barnard, and was a graduate of College High School in Maryville, MO, and of Northwest Missouri State College. She came to Beaman in 1939, where she taught music and typing for six years.

On June 10, 1942, Ilene was united in marriage to C. Martin Myers at her family home in Barnard, MO. They lived and farmed from the time of their marriage in the Beaman area until moving to their present home in Conrad in 1981. She gave piano lessons to many students in her home for a number of years.

Ilene was a member of the United Methodist Church, its United Methodist Women, and its choir director and organist for 31 years; the Beaman Federated Woman's Club; Tuesday Musical Club; and the Conrad Senior Citizens Ridiculaires. She had served on the Beaman Library Board for several years.

Ilene was preceded in death by her parents, one sister and one brother.

She is survived by her husband, Martin; two daughters, Maria (Mrs. Dennis) Dubois, Virginia Beach, VA, and Anne (Mrs. Brian) Ahlschwede, of Waterloo; one brother, Harold Swann, Gardner, KS, and four grandchildren.

The Johnston Funeral Home in Conrad was in charge of the arrangements.
