Ingeborg Modlin Services Held
Mrs. Ingeborg Modlin, 96, of Grundy Center, passed away on Wednesday, September 20, at the Grundy Care Center in Grundy Center.
Funeral services were held at the United Methodist Church in Grundy Center on Saturday, September 23, at 10:30 a.m. Pastor D. Ward Young officiated.
Mrs. Jack Stumberg accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Strickler in a duet.
Casket bearers were Harvey Mackie, Donald Strickler, Jim Brown, Lyle Bokholt, Maurell Pabst and L. C. Pike.
Ushers were Donald Palmer and Warren Feller. Mrs. Donald Strickler and Mrs. Bill Schultz were in charge of the floral arrangements.
Interment was in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Grundy Center.
Ingeborg Modlin was born near Dike on March 24, 1893, the daughter of Nels and Louise Dahl Rasmussen. She attended country school. She was confirmed in the Fredsville Lutheran Church, rural Cedar Falls.
On April 23, 1912, she was united in marriage to Obie S. Modlin in Waterloo. After their marriage, they farmed in Grundy and Hardin counties until 1958, when they moved and made their home in Grundy Center. Obie passed away in 1975.
Ingeborg continued to make her home in Grundy Center, and on May 13, 1987, she became a resident of the Grundy Care Center.
Ingeborg was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son Ralph, one son-in-law William T. Sievert, two granddaughters, one brother and six sisters.
She is survived by one daughter Mrs. Frances Sievert, Grundy Center; one son and daughter-in-law Dale and Helen Modlin, Grundy Center; five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
A memorial fund has been established.
The Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home in Grundy Center was in charge of the funeral arrangements.
