Rites Held For Wayne Lynch, 66

Wayne Lynch, 66, of rural Grundy Center, passed away Thursday evening, July 13, at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo.

Funeral Services were held at the American Lutheran Church, Grundy Center, on Monday, July 17, at 2 p.m. Pastor Paul C. Nelson officiated.

Thomas Dannen sang "How Great Thou Art." The accompanist was Mrs. Raymond Hinders, who also played selected numbers for the prelude and postlude.

Casket bearers were Charles Ware, George L. Dirks, Larry Henningsen, Richard Henningsen, Leon Moeller and Virgil Abels.

Ushers were Art Flater, Vernon Reinicke and Clarence Voss. Mrs. Art Flater, Mrs. Vernon Reinicke and Mrs. Marvin Haverkamp were in charge of the floral arrangements.

Interment was in Rose Hill Cemetery, Grundy Center.

Wayne R. Lynch was born April 13, 1923, on the family farm in Clay township, Grundy county. He was the son of Bert L. and Anna Margaret Heningsen Lynch. He grew up on the family farm and attended country school through 8th grade at Clay #1. He graduated from the Grundy Center High School in 1941, and then attended AIB business school in Des Moines for two years.

On August 21, 1949, Wayne was united in marriage to Delores Heine at the Artesian Lutheran Church, rural Waverly. After their marriage , they farmed southwest of Grundy Center, and ran the Wayne R. Lynch bookkeeping and tax service for 40 years. He retired in 1988 because of failing health.

Wayne was a longtime member of the American Lutheran Church, and had served on the church council. He dearly loved his tax work.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Wayne is survived by his wife, Delores; two daughters, Mrs. Jim (Judy) Freed, rural Grundy Center, and Mrs. Tom (Janet) Freed, of Parkersburg; two brothers, Howard, Gladbrook, and Mervin, of Lexington, MA; two sisters, Mrs. George (Marie) Dannen, Melbourne, and Mrs. Dale (LaVonne) Renner, Reinbeck; and six grandchildren.

A memorial fund has been established.

The Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home in Grundy Center was in charge of the funeral arrangements.
