Esther Meinders Rites Held

Esther Meinders of Aplington, Iowa, was born the daughter of Martin B. and Anna Hook Meinders on June 16, 1932, in Pleasant Valley Township, Grundy county. She attended a rural school in Grundy county, near her home.

Esther enjoyed going to the band concert in Aplington on Saturday nights. She also enjoyed the Memorial Parades. From 1973 to 1986, Esther lived at the Handicap Village in Clear Lake. She there enjoyed the band festivals in Mason City, and also enjoyed being near the lake, seeing all the activities going on there. From 1986 to 1989 she lived at the Allison Care Center in Allison, Iowa.

At 11:00 p.m. Sunday, July 2, 1989, Esther died at Allison Care Center in Allison. She reached the age of 57 years, and 16 days. She was preceded in death by her father, Martin B. Meinders.

Esther is survived by her mother, Anna Meinders, Route 1, Aplington, Iowa; sister, Irene, Mrs. Siebe Frey, rural Holland, Iowa; brother, Ben Meinders, Route 1, Aplington, Iowa; and one niece, DiAnn, Mrs. James Nobles, Chantilly, Vir.

Funeral services were 10 a.m. Thursday at the Schwartz-Engelkes Funeral Chapel in Aplington. Rev. Ronald Fisher officiated at the services. The casket bearers were Kenneth Jack, Marvin Hook, Merle Nieman, and Vernon Niemans.

Burial was at St. Peters Cemetery, rural Wellsburg, Iowa.
