Rites Held For Esther Rieken

Esther Rieken, 67, passed away on March 2, at her winter home in Mission, TX.

Funeral services were held Friday, March 10, at 10:30 a.m., at St. John's United Church of Christ, with Rev. Gabrielle Jenkins, officiating.

Organist was Joan Pfaltzgraff, and singers were Harriet Klein and Colleen Mooi.

Casket bearers were Willard DeBerg, Bob Kappel, Richard Sicard, Newlyn DeBerg, Mike Kappel, and Lawrence Knipfel.

Interment was held in St. Peter's Cemetery, Wellsburg.

Esther Rieken was born April 12, 1921, to Mr. and Mrs. John Aman, at Marshalltown. She grew up in the Marshalltown area.

In 1937, Esther married Irvin Rieken, and they lived east of Ackley. To this union was born a daughter, Dolores, and a son, Michael, who died young.

Esther was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Irvin; her son, Michael; one grandson; and three brothers.

She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Patrick (Dolores) Geerdes, of Portland, TX; three grandsons, Irvin Knott, Portland, TX, Rory Knott, Alvin, TX, and Michael Geerdes, of Rosharon, TX; one granddaughter, Mrs. Dean (Letitia) Pines, of Cedar Falls; four great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Helen Eickenberry, Charles City, Zola Wagner, Ackley, and Bessie Borg, Monteca, CA.
