Rites Held For Jacob Meester

Jacob C. Meester of 803 Florence Street, Parkersburg, Iowa, was born the son of Joe J. and Gertie Meester Meester on January 17, 1911, in Pleasant Valley Township, Grundy County, south of Parkersburg, Iowa. He attended rural school.

On September 23, 1937, Jacob was united in marriage to Alma Christina Kampman in her parents' home northwest of Parkersburg, Iowa. They farmed five miles south of Parkersburg, until retiring in 1977, when they moved to their present home. Alma died on February 20, 1984.

Early Wednesday morning, Jacob died in his home from natural causes. He reached the age of 78 years, one month, and five days.

Jacob was an active and faithful member of the Reformed Church of Stout. He served as Deacon and Elder for many years.

Jacob is survived by his two sons, Calvin and Roger Meester, both of Parkersburg; one daughter, Lois, Mrs. Bart Fisher of Parkersburg; 12 grandchildren and one great-grandson; and six sisters, Mrs. Annie Buskohl, Grundy Center, Mrs. Trena Schnell, Stout, Mrs. Henrietta Luhring, Parkersburg, Martha, Mrs. Jerry Eilderts, Parkersburg, Lydia, Mrs. Albert Kolder, Parkersburg, and Ruth, Mrs. Clarence Claassen, Grundy Center.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Alma, his parents, one son, Johannes Delmar, one granddaughter, two sisters, Mrs. Bena Wolters, and Mrs. Esther Hemmen, and one brother, Herman Meester.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, February 25, 1989, in the Reformed Church of Stout, in Stout, Iowa, with Pastor Don Ringnalda officiating. Mrs. Elaine Schnell was the organist. The congregational hymns were: "My Jesus I Love Thee," "Blessed Assurance" and "Because He Lives."

Casket bearers were: Bernard Schnell, Johannes Luhring, Kenneth Meester, Jerald Eilderts, Delbert Hemmen, and Robert Kolder.

Interment followed in Stout Cemetery, Stout, Iowa.

Schwartz-Engelkes Funeral Home of Parkersburg, Iowa, was in charge of the funeral arrangements.
