Irene Middleton Services Held

Irene Middleton, 82, Conrad, died Sunday, Jan. 1, at Oakview Nursing Home in Conrad.

Following immediate cremation, memorial services were Thursday, Jan. 5, at 1:30 p.m. at the Conrad United Methodist Church with the Rev. David Crow officiating. The organist was Mrs. Evelyn Davidson.

Ms. Middleton was born May 23, 1906, in Vienna Township south of Beaman to Al and Anna Verley Middleton. She moved to Conrad at an early age and graduated from Conrad High School in 1923. She attended Hunt's Business School in Marshalltown. She was employed by Judd Wheeler and purchased his insurance agency in the 1940's. She owned and operated the Middleton Insurance Agency. She sold the agency to Com-Ag in 1975 and continued working with them until her retirement in September 1978. She was a member of the Conrad Chamber of Commerce and the Conrad Community Fund. She served as Registrar of Births and Deaths in Clay and Felix Townships, 1930-1945. She was also a member of the Conrad Methodist United Methodist Church.

Survivors include a nephew, Les Clemons, Colorado; two nieces, Thelma Brindle, Beaman, and Lois (Mrs. Gene) Cathcart, Dike.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a half-sister, Edith Clemens and a half-brother, Earl Middleton.

Johnston Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
