Rites Held For L. Christiansen

Loretta Christiansen, 71, of Dike, passed away Tuesday, July 24, at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo.

Funeral services were held Friday, July 27, at Fredsville Evangelical Lutheran Church in rural Cedar Falls at 10:30 a.m., with Chaplain David Stewart officiating.

Casket bearers were James Bruhn, Rich Johnson, Steve Johnson, LeeRoy Geroff, Michael Schlamp and David Christensen.

Burial was in the church cemetery.

Loretta Crystal Christiansen, daughter of Earl and Pearl Hubbard Golliday, was born February 10, 1919, in Grant City, MO. She grew up and attended school in Blockton, IA, graduating from Blockton High School in 1936. She attended Capital City Commercial College in Des Moines for two years.

On April 26, 1942, Loretta was united in marriage to Milton Christiansen in Queen City, MO. They made their home in Cedar Falls until 1949, when they moved to Dike.

Loretta was employed as a seamstress and bookkeeper for The Barn Clothing Store in Waterloo for many years. She was a member of Fredsville Evangelical Lutheran Church and the Rebekah Lodge in Dike.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and one sister, Trula Kobbe.

Loretta is survived by her husband, Milton, of Cedar Falls; one daughter, Leanna, Mrs. Harold Bowers, Reinbeck; one son James, of Waseca, MN; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

A memorial fund has been established.

The Dike Funeral Chapel was in charge of the professional arrangements.
